When the latest PlayStation was launched in 2007 the console was the most expensive on the market but consumers did not mind as it was built to last. Unfortunately gamers enjoyment has turned to frustration when the console displays a yellow flashing light, which has been dubbed the ‘yellow light of death’ (YLOD).

Sony dislikes this term and has stated it implies a single fault is afflicting all consoles and stated ‘this flashing yellow light is a “non-specific” fault indicator that can be triggered in a range of different circumstances’.

It is seen as a fault that could be any one of a range of issues that may inevitably affect any complex item of consumer electronics.  Sony entirely refute the suggestion that PS3 consoles have an inherent defect or other design issue and report that of all the PS3s sold in the UK to date, fewer than one half of one percent of units have been reported as failing in circumstances where the yellow indicator is illuminated.

Consumers experiencing any problems with their PlayStation 3 are turning to independent PS3 repair businesses.  It has been reported that the ‘yellow light of death’ as it is known by gamers, can in fact be repaired by heating up specific parts of the circuit board, please do not try this at home, you could do more harm than good, leave it to the professionals.

Sony also feels hard done by of the fact that they have been criticized for high charges and the timescale of repairing faults, and stand by their policy of no free servicing, and repairs outside the warranty period, and have pointed out that a free service inside the warranty period is normal practice with many other consumer products sectors, and feel it is unfair to single out Sony in this way.

It simply remains that ardent gamers want an instant solution to any problems, and do not want to pay an arm and a leg, and wait weeks to get back to gaming, thus in comes the independent PlayStation 3 repair service

If you can get any problems solved within an acceptable timescale and pay a fraction of the cost of sending the console back to Sony then of course you will jump on this band wagon, and use a PlayStation 3 repair facility to sort you out.

A spokesman for PS Pros based in London said “we can fix your systems while you wait; yes you better believe it, we offer a same day PlayStation 3 repair service, depending on what the problem is our costs start as low as £30, of course if you are local to London just walk in and we will repair the fault while you wait, if not local, we can still do the business.  We pick up from your location, repair the same day and deliver back, done and dusted”.

If you have a fault with your console, don’t let it turn to frustration, deal with it immediately and hook up with a reputable repair business, and get on with gaming.
