San Diego, CA, August 13, 2011 — A new version 2.0 of Fuscan Linux Cloud has been officially released during HostingCon 2011, the world's premier hosting conference which took place in San Diego, California between August 8 and August 10, 2011.
SingleOS, the company behind the Cloud software automation solution announced a few significant changes in Fuscan version 2.0. In the version 1.0 Fuscan used to use GFS. It was replaced in version 2.0 with GlusterFS as a mainstream file system.
GlusterFS, a software, licensed under GNU AGPL v3 license, is a scale-out NAS file system which aggregates various storage servers over Ethernet or Infiniband RDMA interconnect into one large parallel network file system. It is based on a stackable user space design without compromising performance.
GlusterFS has significantly improved the performance of Fuscan Linux Cloud and added more flexibility the software.
Fuscan 2.0 also features a new resource manager. The SingleOS development team replaced the Red Hat resource manager (RGManager) with Pacemaker. The reason is that Pacemaker is recognized as feature-rich and more flexible.
The 2.0 version also features a new resource manager. Out development team replaced the Red Hat resource manager (RGManager) with Pacemaker. The reason is that Pacemaker is recognized as feature-rich and more flexible.
Pacemaker offers a great service configuration and more flexibility compared to the RGManager. It allows users to configure specific scenarios for running services in a certain time frame. The users can set rules and requirements that allow or forbid a certain service (Database, Web server, Mail server, etc.) or resource (IP, directory, etc.) to run on a particular node. Pacemaker also features an improved high availability, allowing for a service to additionally run in a master/master or master/slave modes, compared to just active/passive in RGManager.
Issues Overcome Compared to Fuscan 1.0 Version
In version 1.0 Fuscan Linux Cloud faced issues with slow GFS locking and slow read performance. These have completely eliminated with the implementation of the new file system. The implementation of the GlusterFS allows for a better data safety, scalability and management. Features like replication, distribution, and striping data are standard for GlusterFS. Mixing and matching these data modes is also supported.
In its version 2.0 Fuscan Linux Cloud also features improved management interface.
SingleOS has recently announced a 50% discount on licenses of Fuscan Linux Cloud. Web hosting providers that want to take advantage of the discounted licenses of the cPanel Shared Cloud automation platform can sign up from Order page at SingleOS Accounts (singleos.com/accounts/cart.php). They can still use the code HOSTINGCON11 to cut the list price of the Fuscan licenses.
About Fuscan:
Fuscan Linux Cloud PaaS is a load-balanced, shared root cluster (OS installation). It features software level redundancy (transparent service failover) and hardware level redundancy (power, cluster interconnect – when the system is deployed on a hardware recommended by SingleOS). It is naturally scalable and can be easily deployed of physical or virtual nodes.
Fuscan feature a speacial automation layer – Fuscan EHA (Enterprise Hosting Automation) – a High Availability system for cPanel/WHM. It enables hosting providers to create their own Cloud infrastructures and to provide cPanel/WHM Cloud hosting services in a load-balanced clustered environment, to optimize server management and to cut operational costs.
