EVA Air, pronounced "E – V – A," is an Asian based international airline passenger carrier operating out of Taiwan. Privately owned, this Asian-based airline has been doing business successfully for years. Due to generous investors, this company has grown from its humble beginnings to an international success story. Slogans used by EVA Air are very memorable because of their unique marketing approach. For example, "Fly EVA Air and Feel the Difference" was their launch slogan in 1991. Years later, they have not changed their current slogan which is "Sharing the World, Flying Together". This article will discuss some of the more intriguing aspects of this company. It was the spring of 1989 when EVA Airways acquired their operations license so they could start running. They later ordered over 20 airliners from Boeing and McDonnell Douglas to get their operations up to full speed. No longer called Evergreen Airways, EVA is the long-lasting memorable name that is known worldwide. Evergreen International was actually the name of another airline that specialized as a cargo carrier. This may have been one of the reasons that EVA changed its name. This small sideline and deviation was quickly rectified and they started business from that point on. In order to get the air passengers inside of Taiwan, EVA made a daring move, back during the 1990s. The airline invested in three airlines in order to make that happen. The three airlines that were involved were Makung International Airlines, Great China Airlines, as well as Taiwan Airways. These three airlines merged together, in 1998, to form one large airline called UNI Air. After EVA took control of UNI Air, it then became a big part of the companies domestic operations. UNI Air provides flight operations within the country. {} EVA Air has come quite a long way since 1989, and during the operating year 2007 had provided service for just over six million passengers. The airline is constantly working to improve services which is pretty standard among the highly competitive airline industry. In 2008, Skytrax's yearly World Airline Awards recognized EVA's Elite Class with the "Best Premium Economy Class" award. 2009 was a stellar year for this company earning a very profitable quarter. To top it all off, EVA was given the distinction of being listed in the top 10 international passenger service airlines of 2010. This airline, EVA, is fiscally sound and continues to make profits and expand in the marketplace. Most people do not realize how difficult it is to start-up an airline from nothing and expand into profits on an international scale. The airline needed to secure their operations and coverage at home in Taiwan. By merging with other Asian carriers, they were able to accomplish what seemed to be impossible in regard to company growth and profits. International growth, along with domestic flights to and from Taiwan, allowed them to expand into the company we know today.
