AsiaFoodRecipe.com the company that organized the Bollywood themed cooking recipes party in a statement yesterday, said that it did not condone their actions and that the related individuals has been counseled. The party has garnered a lot of negative press when pictures of the party attendees with blackened faces and wearing Indian traditional dresses were posted on the social networking website Facebook.

The first pictures of this party surfaced on Facebook on March 23, 2012. The pictures in question were that of some party guests who had painted their faces black, presumably because of the dark skin of Indians and the fact that the theme was Indian as well.

Blackened faces have been known to be a form of racism. People were taken aback by the fact that Asians themselves were responsible for such a racial conduct. This act had originated from the makeup used by European theatre performers to act as dark-skinned people.

The person who first posted this story had said that he found the pictures and the actions of the party guests extremely offensive. Other readers found that the photos were distasteful. A few people felt that the photos were not entirely malicious. No matter what the opinion was, almost everyone agreed that posting such derogatory pictures was not a good decision in part of the guests.

In response to the outrage triggered by these photos, a spokesperson for Asiafoodrecipe.com said the pictures were taken in good spirit, and not for intentionally insulting other nationalities. The spokesperson also said that the website and all bloggers and guests invited to the food recipe party believe wholeheartedly in racial harmony. Nevertheless, the spokesperson of Asiafoodrecipe.com assured that the guests involved in the photos would be informed and asked to take down the derogatory photos. The photos were eventually taken down at the same night.

Some people stated that the party held by AsiaFoodRecipe.com could have been more fun and this controversy could have been avoided if the guests had controlled themselves. They felt that wearing Indian clothes was one thing, but painting their faces coal black was crossing the line.
