The MINI Cooper Roadster has a unique look but will perform like the regular Cooper convertible. This two-door compact convertible has a trunk but does not have rear seats. Its convertible top is opened and closed manually. A stowage area for the top keeps it flush with the bodywork when the top is down. The top is released from the stowage area by pneumatic springs with the push of a button so that the top can more easily be reached to put back up.
The Roadster like the Coupe will be available as a base Cooper, a Cooper S, and a John Cooper Works. The base Cooper has a 1.6 liter engine that produces 121 horsepower, the Cooper S has a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine that produces 181 horsepower, and the John Cooper Works has a more powerful turbocharged 1.6-liter engine that produces 208 horsepower. Fuel economy is expected to range from 25 to 29 mpg in the city and 33 to 37 mpg on the highway.
