This year is the seventh year that the Green Car of the Year award has been handed out by the Green Car Journal. The Green Car Journal considers itself “the premier source of information on high fuel efficiency, low emission, advanced technology, and alternative fuel vehicles." The five finalists considered for this year’s award include the 2012 VW Passat TDI, the 2012 Ford Focus Electric, the 2012 Mitsubishi I, the 2012 Honda Civic CNG and the 2012 Toyota Prius V. The judges making the final decision include key figures from the country’s leading environmental organizations.
