Las Vegas NV, 13-DECEMBER-2013 – Lake Mead Chiropractic and Dr. Matthew Mortensen, chiropractor Northwest Las Vegas region, are pleased to announce simple, yet effective posture correction measures which are shown to improve the way patients sit, stand and move. The way a person stands, or his posture, is one of the most important elements in good spinal health. Poor posture can affect health throughout the body.

According to the respected chiropractor Northwest Las Vegas, Dr. Matthew Mortensen, "The alignment of the spine is crucial for patients. When the vertebrae that make up the spinal column are not aligned correctly, pressure is exerted upon the intervertebral discs. Instead of the discs lying in a horizontal position, they can be crushed on one side of the other. They can even be compressed completely, to the point where the vertebrae rub on each other."

"In addition to compression of the discs, they may bulge or even rupture" he continues. "When this occurs, the disc can press on the nearby tissue and nerves. Pain, numbness and tingling are additional symptoms that are a direct result of poor posture. Poor circulation in the muscles that are not being used properly can lead to long-term muscle fatigue and pain."

Posture correction exercises are typically simple to master and implement. They don't require costly equipment or a great deal of time each day. In many instances, learning the correct posture position is enough to become aware of how the alignment is affecting the body. The chiropractor can help patients see where alignment is faulty and identify how to adjust the posture at home.
