Dr. Mercola points out that the “success of this initiative is dependent on public donations, and we’re up against industry giants with very deep pockets.”

According to the Public Disclosure Commission, the opposition has already raised more than $11 million—outspending those for the I-522 by more than four times.

Despite the large gap in spending, you can make a difference. Even though Prop 37, California’s Right to Know Bill, did not get passed last year, the battle was close. As a result, companies and people all over the United States took notice. Consumers have started requesting that genetically engineered products be removed from foods.

While this is a big step in the right direction, having GMOs labeled will enable you to be certain you are eating a GMO-free diet.

If you would like to support the fight for GMO labeling, you can also make a donation at organicconsumers(dot)org
