The hair care regime you perform on your hair will determine whether it looks it’s healthiest and the best advice is to “keep it simple”.
With the amount of hair products available on the market it is very hard to choose wisely so before purchasing any hair products one should know the basics of the whole hair care cycle.
Modern day shampoo products may promise to achieve a wide range of benefits from changing texture, fattening strands, to adding colour, we must not stray away from the key component of shampoo which of course is quite simple.
The basic shampoo requirements should include the ability to cleanse hair of oils, sebum, debris and dirt, but should also be gentle enough not to irritate eyes, skin or scalp. The shampoo you choose should work equally well in all types of water whether hard or soft and more importantly not damage the hair in any way just by its application.
The basic shampoo cycle, which hopefully everyone knows, starts with the hair as it becomes dirty when the scalp naturally excretes sebum or natural oils. These oils flow from the top of the head down the length of the hair and cling to the surface of the hair strands, which of course attracts dust, debris and other types of foreign matter.
Water alone cannot easily clean the hair, thus the need for a good quality shampoo, which should be massaged well with the finger tips into the scalp and then removed with good rinsing. Hair that is not rinsed properly will become coated with the excess shampoo thus attracting more dirt.
Hair products such as conditioner, is a term than can mean anything from hair treatments, to full blown deep treatment applied with heat, right through to a light detangling leave-in spray or cream.
A conditioner’s function is to repair hair if, for example, the hair’s cuticle has been damaged from chemical abuse or its scales have been opened by excessive heat treatments. This type of damage means that the hair becomes ‘porous’ to the extent that tiny rips and tears actually develop in the outer cuticle of the hair. The more damaged the hair, the more it becomes progressively more porous.
Conditioners can decrease this porosity and are designed to offer salvation to chemically treated, environmentally and nutritionally damaged strands. Conditioning the hair can fill in the holes, rips and tears of over-porous damaged hair, and good quality products and treatments can actually penetrate all the way down into the cortex layer of the hair and act as a type of filler to ‘mend’ torn, weakened fragile areas.
A spokesman for Fabriah offering professional hair products online said, “we stock only top brand products that will ensure you can protect and care for your hair whatever the type.
