Las Vegas NV, 22-MARCH-2014 – Lake Mead Chiropractic and Dr. Matthew Mortensen, chiropractor North West Las Vegas region, are pleased to invite readers to Visit this link and learn more about how the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) can be relieved through the methods offered in chiropractic medicine. CTS symptoms occur when the nerve and tendons passing through the bony channel in the wrist become irritated. Because there isn't a lot of extra room in the tunnel, the median nerve can be affected by pressure from swollen tissue.
Dr. Matthew Mortensen DC, explained to an interviewer, "Traditional medicine often recommends a surgical approach to address carpal tunnel syndrome. We encourage natural and non-invasive techniques that are intended to reduce the irritation and swelling in the area. Our methods do not rely on pharmaceuticals or surgery."
He continues, "A consultation with a patient who is feeling carpal tunnel syndrome pain will begin with an examination to determine the underlying cause of the symptoms. Often, the pain is the result of a job which requires hours of repetitive movements in the fingers or hands. The tissue in the wrist becomes irritated and swells. This action causes pressure on the median nerve which runs through the area. Depending upon the level and location of the irritation, there may be pain, weakness, numbness or tingling in the first three fingers of the hand, as well as the thumb."
Chiropractic measures rely upon reducing the swelling through natural measures. These might include massage, heat and cold therapy, and ultrasound. Some patients benefit from wrist supports to ensure that the hand and fingers are in the proper position ergonomically. When the circulatory system is strengthened, much of the healing can be handled by the body itself.
