Sustainable and recyclable paper products expected to draw considerable interest at Paperworld Middle East

The increasing demand for paper products and stationery from the vibrant economies of the Middle East is expected to continue to shape the future growth of the industry according to recent research findings. Though the outlook is buoyant at the present time, industry trends indicate that there is an increasing shift towards ‘greener’ and more sustainable products thanks to growing awareness of environmental issues and the damage caused by unhindered commercial paper consumption. Organiser of Paperworld Middle East, the region’s largest trade fair for office supplies and stationery products, Epoc Messe Frankfurt, expects these trends to generate new inquiries and fresh business leads for companies specialising in offering sustainable products and services as well as those involved in recycling used paper products. “The Middle East market for paper is expected to continue to grow in the near future, with recent figures indicating that the region would need 28 million tons of paper to fulfil its needs by 2020*,” said Ahmed Pauwels, Chief Executive Officer of Epoc Messe Frankfurt.

“While the outlook for growth remains robust, environmental concerns and the perceived need for greater sustainability in what is seen as a ‘high carbon footprint’ industry, has led to a growing trend among corporate customers to opt for sustainable and recyclable paper to meet their needs,” he added. Increasing demand for sustainable paper has led to a flood of innovative ideas on the parts of manufacturers to diminish their environmental impact and reduce their carbon footprints. Paper from managed forests, enhancing the amount of recycled content in paper products and stationery, the use of ecologically friendly fuel to process these products are all amongst the growing transformations within the paper industry.

Leading manufacturer of paper products and stationery Double A is among the key exhibitors expected to roll out their range of sustainable office and printing solutions at Paperworld Middle East, taking place in Dubai in March.“We have recently been awarded the Asian CSR Award for sustainable paper produced from our ‘Khan Na’ programme, which produces paper from trees grown by farmers on unused land,” said Mr. K. Thirawit Leetavorn, Senior Executive Vice President for Double A. “In the process we not only reduce our carbon footprint but also play a part in alleviating poverty by increasing the farmer’s income. The Middle East is a vibrant market for our products and we expect considerable new business inquiries from our participation at Paperworld Middle East,” Mr. K. Thirawit Leetavorn, added.

Representing the entire range of paper and office products and services, Paperworld Middle East, the regional avatar of the world-renowned Paperworld brand, provides an ideal business sourcing and networking platform with considerable reach around the region. This premier trade fair will be held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from March 6th to 8th, 2012.
