Toronto, Canada – GAO RFID Asset Tracking (www.GAORFIDAssetTracking.com) has rolled out its UHF GenTop™ standalone RFID reader/writer as an excellent tool to aid in testing and validating applications. This standalone RFID reader/writer is ideal for a small to medium size business to handle anything from meeting government mandates to RFID labelling for the supply chain.

This desktop UHF GenTop™ RFID reader/writer, model 236004, operates in the UHF 860 to 960 MHz band supporting both North America and EU standards. It provides a read/write distance of up to 4 in. The reader/writer is compliant with EPC Class1 Gen 1 and Gen 2 protocols and communicates with a computer via a USB port. It features an optical sensor for automatic reader activation and label identification. In addition, it provides an IP40 protection rating and is encapsulated within an ABS case allowing for robust operation even in harsh environments.

This UHF GenTop™ standalone RFID reader/writer belongs to GAO's family of Inventory Management RFID Readers. This line contains a wide range of readers such as 433 MHz Active RFID L-Series Reader with RS485 / RS232 which offers sensitivity adjustment and remote reader addressing and dynamical reader programming via PC software application and UHF Enterprise Gen 2 RFID Reader which supports remote firmware management and monitoring using SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) allowing for real time status verification and modifications.

GAO's RFID solution for Warehousing and Retail overcomes drawbacks of manual asset tracking and inventory management that leads to misplaced products, out-of-stock shelves, and poor reaction to sudden changes to create favourable conditions for Warehouse Management Systems, Supply Chain Systems, and Enterprise Systems. Benefits of using this systems include: total asset visibility, full inventory history, reduced inventory-stocking levels, facilitating Just-in-Time deliveries, full process control for products in the facility, reduced lead-time and cross docking time, improved sort/pick rate, reduction is storage and shelf space, improved security, reduced errors and overall reduced cost of operations.
