Arsenal has no intention of sacking Arsene Wenger, and it didn't plan to discuss any of that talk in its meeting on Thursday.

The club shows reluctance in ending Wenger's contract regardless if the team fails to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Wenger retains the support of the Stan Kroenke, Arsenal's majority shareholder, as well as his fellow directors.

At this Tuesday's Champions League game with Bayem Munich, Kroenke was present to witness the team's defeat. According to sources, the decision over Wenger's future rests on the Frenchman himself who will be present at the board meeting in London.

Although the manager is still under contract until 2014, the team is prepared to offer him an extension if he chooses to extend his reign that began in 1996. Arsenal supporters however have been showing their concern over the team and its management's shortcomings.

While the team is adamant in sticking with their structure, they will be competing with Europe's biggest teams in the future. For next season's Champions League, they are facing stiff competition with the likes of Manchester United. During the Premier League, they finished fifth missing just four points in order to qualify for the final spot.

The team has not won a championship since the 2005 FA Cup where they beat Manchester United on penalties, and their hopes to win the silverware this season have just disappeared.

They were defeated by League Two side Bradford out of the Capital One Cup back in December and they suffered a home defeat in the FA Cup by Blackburn on the fifth round last Saturday.

Currently, their chances of making it into the Champion League quarter finals further decreased with their first leg loss to Bayem scoring 3-1.

With Nicklas Bendtner and Marouane Chamakh likely to leave and Sebastien Squillaci and Andrey Arshavin out of contract at the end of the season, they are currently planning to move on some fringe players in order to free up money for new signings.

Arsenal's failed pursuit of David Villa, Barcelona's striker, in January indicates their willingness to spend significantly.

Although the task appears to be difficult, the team remains confident that they have enough resources to attract quality signings even if they do not qualify on next season's Champions League.
