Manila, Philippines—Dr. Edwin Paul V. Magallona, a board-certified Philippine plastic surgeon and head doctor at the Philippine Cosmetic Plastic Surgery (PCPS) clinic revealed that men nowadays are proactively inclined with non-surgical cosmetic treatment.

Dr. Magallona mentioned that approximately 10% in men wants to have cosmetic surgery. A large number of this percentage prefer non-surgical treatments like Botox and laser hair removal.

“Men are not really fond of grooming themselves in the morning, laser hair removal is very appealing to a lot of men because it saves them time; it gives them comfort and convenience,” Dr. Magallona said.
According to American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), laser hair removal is one of the most in-demand procedures for men; last year alone, it accounted for almost 10% of all cosmetic treatments.
“I think that in the next two years, more men would want to have Botox as well, because they want to look younger and it gives the results that they want. I think that Botox’ popularity amongst women have gotten the curiosity of the male population.” he added.
Dr. Magallona is also quick to point out that although men cosmetic surgery is increasing; they are still uncomfortable talking about it openly, especially in the Philippines. “Plastic surgery in the Philippines is still a forbidden subject so don’t expect anytime soon that people, even celebrities, will openly admit that they had Botox.”
PCPS is starting to focus more on treating men and making sure that they feel as comfortable as their female clients.

On the other hand, PCPS has a team of highly-trained doctors and staff members who provide top notch customer service to both men and women. Dr. Magallona added that they also offer customized treatments to men and women to meet their specific needs.
“It is delightful to know that men are now more open about the possibility of cosmetic surgery in the Philippines. The Philippine plastic surgery industry is prepared for what will be the next trend in both cosmetic and plastic surgery but I think, for now; let the men be satisfied with laser hair removal and Botox. Let’s take it one step at a time,” he ended.
