Summers see the temperature go up, and your hair starts facing problems, simply because the humidity in the environment increases, which affects the hair, making it dull, lifeless, and giving it a shabby look.  The sun’s temperature, the sweat due to humidity and chlorine from the swimming pool are all key factors that damage your hair, having said that maintaining that mane is an all year job.

What makes a healthy head of hair, a few things done on a regular basis will keep your hair looking shiny, and in the best condition.  The old fashioned adage of brushing one’s hair a hundred strokes a day is not so far fetched as you may think, brushing hair stimulates the blood supply to the scalp, removes dead skin cells from the scalp, thus eliminating the possibility of infection, also distributes sebum over the hair shaft for moisturizing and protection.

A thorough scalp massage will do wonders for the hair, any time of the day just slip your fingers into your hair using the pads of your fingers, and massage in circular motions over your scalp, using only your finger pads will not break your hair or scratch your scalp.

Deep conditioners used on your hair once a week will do wonders for the hair, by all means use daily conditioners or leave in conditioners but once a week apply a deep conditioner after shampooing, then towel dry, and wrap your head in a heated towel to open the hair cuticle, this allows the conditioner to soak in, leave in for about 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse off with warm water to remove the conditioner residue, but then do something that very few people do, rinse again with cool water to close the hair cuticle close to the shaft, this will increase shine and manageability and will help to keep your hair strong.

There is a right way to shampoo your hair, treat it like silk, firstly never pile your hair on your head to wash, just let it hang naturally, either standing in the shower or with your head over the bath, the hair should be washed with warm water never hot, put shampoo into the palm of your hand and work into a lather then apply to your scalp and massage with your finger pads not your fingernails.

Always comb wet hair with a wide tooth comb never brush wet hair, never go to bed with wet hair, as hair is vulnerable when wet and can break easily as you turn on your pillow, also can rough up the cuticle and make it look dull, it is always best to air dry hair whenever possible.

A spokesman for Fabriah offering professional hair products online said “more and more women are doing the right thing by their hair, and bothering to choose the right hair products and hair treatments fit for purpose, they are not just going along the shelves of a shop or supermarket and picking out a shampoo or conditioner, they are researching exactly what is good for the type of hair they have”.

To maintain the perfect mane of hair it is imperative that the right hair products are chosen in the first place, how else can a perfect head of hair be achieved?
