The anticipation mounted as two eager fisherman went on the hunt for Muskellunge on the Lake of the Woods in Canada. It was a night that Mike Teifke and his father would never forget.
It was 2 am and the sky was as black as could be. No moon could be seen and there were not any stars to steer by. It was a cool summer evening and with their trusty thermos of hot coffee and cold weather gear, they were ready for an adventure. As the evening wore on, Mike’s dad laid down in the boat to get some much needed rest. As he lay sleeping in the boat, Mike maneuvered the boat onto a reef and proceeded to cast his lure.
He soon found that he got the attention of a school of Muskies who found great interest in his lure and the boat as well. As they came along side the boat, Mike used a “figure 8” motion with the lure, which really attracted their attention. As they would bite the lure, their large bodies would beat against the boat sending waves of water everywhere. Unfortunately for Mike’s dad, he didn’t get much sleep that night. It truly was a fun and special night for these two seasoned fisherman.
