If it Happens Online and Affects Redcliffe Small Business They’ll Tackle It!

Successful LinkedIn Marketing Meetup for Redcliffe Small Business Leaders

On Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 7:00 PM a group of passionate local Redcliffe business leaders met for their monthly Meetup at Sandgate Community Centre to discuss how the LinkedIn business networking site can help small business expand their networks and their reach.

The attendees at these monthly meetings are a group of committed but relaxed locals who want to grow their local Redcliffe area business influence online, lower their marketing costs and generate more leads. Every month they brainstorm topics from Search Engine Optimisation, Social Media Marketing, Online Video Marketing to Brand Monitoring and Outsourcing. If it happens online and affects small business they’ll tackle it and try to help each other get the most benefit out of it.

The host of the Meetups is Mick Cullen, MD of Redcliffe Marketing Labs. Mick takes pleasure in sharing his extensive knowledge of online marketing with attendees – here he provided some training about the vast potential of Linkedin – but it was far from a lecture. Mick, as always, encouraged lively participation from attendees and open sharing of online marketing experiences so that every business leader present benefited from it.

Of the past and present Meetups Mick said “The Meetups have so far covered Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. LinkedIn is the next social media platform business owners should seriously consider engaging on.”

He added that “LinkedIn is where HR types, professionals, managers, business owners, CFOs, CEOs and entrepreneurs hangout and connect with each other.”

During the Meetup Mick showed how LinkedIn usage is growing in Australia and how using Linkedin helps with your business’s Google search results. He then took attendees through account creation,  privacy settings, best practices for creating a LinkedIn profile and optimising it for SEO, which plug-ins to use to showcase your business, how to build a large professional network, keeping up with your industry news using the Groups tool, promoting your business products and services through the Company pages and how to use the Automation tools.

One of the attendees, Russell James, said of the evening: “Great to Meetup with like-minded people getting to understand the social media implications for small business development. Thanks Mick for another great presentation.”

Another attendee said “I found Mick's presentation very informative and am looking forward to utilizing all his wonderful ideas to help grow the business.“

Tony Koch said: “Informative presentation with slides and good discussion in a relaxed informal gathering. Good to hear about others experiences with LinkedIn network and discovered some new ideas to explore.”

Mick expects these Meetups to keep growing as the influence of social media and importance of online marketing grows – starting with the Online Reputation Management Meetup, which is next up on Monday, June 27, 2011 at 7:00 PM (location to be confirmed.)
