Role Based Emails
Why can't I join MB Publishing and use a Role-Based email address?
A role-based email address is an alias that can often forward to more than one person.
For example, pr@acme.com, info@acme.com, sales@acme.com, marketing@acme.com. At MaleBits, we hate spam as much as you do, and in order to ensure that what we publish is sent only to those who specifically request it, our mailer will not deliver to a role-based email address. Here's an example why. Say your organization is a PR agency and you want to use pr@acme.com as your MaleBits email subscriber account, because when email is sent to that address it is then distributed internally to all five people on your PR team. First of all, we have no idea if the other four really do wish to receive our content. If team member #5 is not aware that you have submitted content, they will receive mail from us and mark it as spam, which will most definitely interfere with our ability to successfully get email through to the rest of your organization. Secondly, if at some point in the future, team member #5 wishes to unsubscribe from MaleBits, the only way to do it would be to remove the entire team alias, which would mean your other team members would suddenly stop receiving MaleBits and wonder why. It is for these reasons that we have chosen to not deliver to role-based email addresses, so please be sure that when you sign up that you use only an individual email address. If the only email address you use right now is info@acme.com, then this means you'll need to either contact your web host or IT person and have them create a name-based email alias for you to use; or, you'll need to create a free Gmail account and join MaleBits with that account address.
We thank the good people over at H A R O for inspiration on this.
